The ED of ISMPH was invited as a Special Guest of Honour for the event to mark the World Red Cross Day celebrations in Abuja. To celebrate the world red cross day Nigerian Red Cross Society focused the limelight on the volunteers and staff of the NRCS to express gratitude for service and commitment in the efforts to be everywhere for everyone.
In different parts of the country, the event was marked with sub-exercises that contributed to awareness of the different objectives of the NRCS. In Yobe state, there was a blood drive and novelty football match. Delta state branch of the NRCS carried out simulation exercises to commemorate the WRCD. Plateau state branch conducted a Safety and Security Workshop; Lagos, Abuja and other branches also participated in marking the WRCD in their respective zones.
The ICRC continues its humanitarian commitment notably in the sub-Saharan African region in the wake of violent terrorism leading to humanitarian disasters. Indeed, there have been records of significant outcomes resonating from the bravery and results of the services of the volunteers and staff of the movement. Recently, the ICRC provided skills training sessions on water hygiene to curb the risk of waterborne diseases in parts of the communities previously recorded to have 223, 000 people who are affected by the Lake Chad Crisis.
